Faysal Ali Warabe: An unauthorized election will not take place in Somaliland, The chairman of the Somaliland opposition party, UCID, Faysal Ali Warabe, said that the election committee submitted the schedule for the presidential election alone.

The chairman who gave a special interview to the BBC radio, said that the Somaliland Electoral Commission has submitted the schedule for the presidential election which it previously said that it will hold in 9 months.

“The commission presented the three parties with the schedule for the presidential election that they announced earlier in October, which they said we will hold the presidential election in 9 months,” said Governor Warabe.

The governor said that his supporters assumed that the opposition allowed the election of the unions, but that was not the case, and that they would never allow an illegal election.

“Our supporters thought that we would not allow union elections, but we are withdrawing them and we have no law to hold union elections, the only legal election in the country is that of the president,” said Governor Warabe.

The governor threatened that Somaliland will be disrupted if the presidential election is not held, saying that an illegal election will not take place in Somaliland.

The opposition and the government have not yet come to an agreement on the conflict between the upcoming presidential and union elections
